What do I need to do to make sure that I can roam in the Maldives? |

Contact your customer service and ask to activate the international roaming service. You'll need to do this at least 2 days before you're leaving. |

Check that your mobile will work in the Maldives. Wataniya has a GSM (900MHz), GPRS and 3G network (3G coverage is limited to Male and the airport). |

Check your numbers. When in the Maldives you'll need to add  followed by the country code and area code before you key in the number you want to reach.
For example, if you want to call the UK, dial 44 777 888 999. Make sure that you change the country codes and area codes of the numbers in your phone directory so you can call your friends and family at home without the hassle of changing country codes every time you dial. |

Some operators take up to 45 days to forward roaming charges to Wataniya, this sometimes causes a delay in billing roaming charges. This also means that your roaming charges may be spread across two monthly bills, depending on the time you spent abroad. |
