Wataniya Mobile Video Calls
Wataniya Mobile Video Calls makes the future a reality. With a video screen mobile handset, you can get real time two-way video calling on your mobile. Each video call enables you to talk to your loved ones face-to-face. See them "live" on your mobile screen, and never miss a moment.
How do I setup my phone for Wataniya Mobile Video Calls?
A 3G symbol will appear under the network strength indicator. If the 3G symbol does not appear, this means that you are not in the coverage of the Wataniya 3G+ network. In order to select the network manually, choose Tools > Settings > Network on your mobile.
In the Network mode, please make sure that it is set on Dual Mode. Some phones support three types of network modes.
GSM Mode: Use this option when you do not want to use our 3.5G network.
UMTS Mode: Use this option when you want to use only the Wataniya 3.5G network. If there is no 3.5G coverage, the mobile will not automatically switch to our 2.75G network.
Dual Mode: Select this mode if you want to have the ability to use our 3.5G network and 2.75G network whenever there is coverage. In order to switch from 3.5G to 2.75G in case of no coverage, you should always have the network mode on dual Mode (in some phones it is called Auto Mode).
To make a video call, users must have 3G+ enabled mobile handsets in the Wataniya 3G+ coverage area.
Can I be on the Wataniya3G+ network and still use the Wataniya 2.5G network?
Yes, by default all customers can use the Wataniya 2.5G network even if they are in a 3G+ coverage area. If you want to use our 2.5G network only in the 3G+ coverage; just choose the GSM mode only.
What happens if I move to an area with Wataniya 3G+ Coverage to an area without?
If the mobile phone is set on dual mode, the mobile will automatically switch to Wataniya 3G+, and vice versa.
Will moving from Wataniya 3G+ to Wataniya 2.75G (EDGE) Coverage cause video call drops?
Yes, our 2.75G network does not support Video Calling. If you have dropped calls for normal voice calls, make sure your phone is set to Automatic (Network) or Dual Mode.
Can I make a Video Call to anyone and anywhere in the Maldives?
To make a Video Call both parties have to be Wataniya customers with 3G enabled mobile handsets and have to be in a Wataniya 3G+ coverage area.
Why does my mobile handset battery drain faster with 3G+ Video Calls?
Video calling consumes more battery power than normal voice and data services, so it’s natural that your battery may need more frequent charging.
